Visiting artists in their studios is one of the best ways to gain insights into specific creative practices. This has been a major part of my curatorial research, spanning several decades. The following are a series of portrait photographs of artists living and working in Lhasa, the capital of the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China. The photographs were taken during a research trip in 2010 and feature several artists from the Gendun Choephal Artist Collective.
