About this work:
The work depicts the actors Onoe Kikugoro IV and Ichikawa Kodanji IV in the roles of Oiwa and Lemon in a scene from the play Yotsuya Kaidan (The Ghost Story of Yotsuya) published by Enshuya Hikobei in 8/1856. This series titled "After The Seven Iroha" was a supplement to the "Seven Variations of the Iroha" published the same year. The title cartouches of the prints in this series feature numbers written seven different ways.
